I am so blessed to have been a part of the 2010 Miss North Carolina Competition.  This was a stressful week, but one that I wouldn’t trade for the world!  We arrived at check in and met our hostesses, they were hilarious!  These ladies took care of us the entire week at Peace College.  I was fortunate enough to share a suite with Sarah Southard, we had TOO much fun!  Sunday started out with rehearsal for several hours, until dinner time, followed by several more hours of rehearsal.  Monday and Tuesay were very much the same as Sunday, full of rehearsals!  Let me tell you, Meymandi Auditorium is freezing during the day!

Tuesday’s competition started out with evening gown and on stage question.  My daddy was so cute up there in his tuxedo escorting me around. He was beaming!  Wednesday night I competed in Swimsuit, and rocked the stage in my china blue Jayme Shaw suit, ready for the beach of course!  Thursday night I think I shocked the entire audience with my rendition of  Simon and Garfunkle’s classic “Bridge over Troubled Water” .

Friday was Interview!  I, being contestant 26 out of 28 went much later in the day.  The judges were very nice and comical, I made them laugh several times.  Later that evening we went to dinner at the Capital City Club in downtown Raleigh where we met with several former Miss North Carolinas.  Jennifer Vaden Barth sat at our table, and told us about her reign and all the glory of Miss North Carolina!  After dinner, I, along with four other Miss contestants who had previously competed in the Outstanding Teen competition were asked to be part of the pre-show for the Teen pageant.

Grace Ann made the top ten!  I was so proud of her!  Congratulations to the new Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen, Kayla Hollingsworth!

Saturday was rehearsal again, then the final night!  Butterflies were everywhere backstage before the pageant.  The dressers came in and asked us where our clothes were IN CASE we made the top ten.  After opening number….I was lucky enough to be called as the third person in the top ten!  The entire night seems to be a blur after that point, as we had to change so quickly.

We ran off stage and into our evening gowns, Dad was backstage and beaming!  He escorted me with a huge smile on his face, because his little girl was in the top ten.  Next, it was a quick change into the Carolina Princess Number, Sarah Wallace-my lifesaver throughout the week-was thrilled for me!  Not only is she the cutest Carolina Princess ever, but she’s incredibly supportive!  After this number, I was rushing backstage to get ready for swimsuit.  That Blue bikini did it again, and was a hit!  As soon as I was offstage, it was time for talent, we had minimal time to warm up or even catch our breath.  I sang my heart out and couldn’t be any prouder of myself.

Congratulations to Adrienne Core! Miss North Carolina 2010! She is truly one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met, so down to earth and kind.  Adrienne will definitely make North Carolina proud in Vegas at Miss America!  Can’t wait to go and cheer her on!

This isn’t the end of my journey as Miss Greater Sampson County.  I’ve still got many more appearances to make, and people to meet.  I’m still growing as a person, and every person I come in contact with helps me and touches my life that much more.  Thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way in my journey!  Don’t worry, there will be more to come!  I love you all!
